Polished concrete is becoming increasingly popular in homes and for good reason. One of the most important benefits of polished concrete is that it is very easy in maintaining. Easy to vacuum or brush, no grout to get dirty as is the case with tiled floors, and only requiring weekly cleaning with a ph neutral cleaner, polished concrete floors are low maintenance.

Additionally, polished concrete is less slippery than a normal floor, and a floor polished to 3000 grit is even less slippery that a sealed concrete floor. The holes are usually filled with an acrylic tile adhesive type of product mixed with either the grinding dust or cement powder which is hand scraped across the floor using a trowel.

For polished concrete floors where exposed aggregate is specified, the first finishing step is referred to as ‘cutting.' For polished cream floors where the poured surface of the concrete is polished, the cutting step is skipped. The concrete is so durable that it's far less vulnerable to damage than tiles, carpets or floorboards that all need repairing or replacing over time.

When properly installed and sealed a decorative concrete floor should last a lifetime and will never need replacement. Commercial areas truly adore concrete polished floors because they do not wear in high foot-traffic areas, they do not become dull when they are highly used.
